MINNESOTA HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL GRANTS
Grants Manual - Instructions for Applying Online
Using the Electronic Application Form
The electronic application form is in a PDF format. It can be viewed, completed, and saved using Adobe Acrobat Reader, a program found on most computers. If you do not have Reader, please follow this link to download to your computer.
The form is comprised of fields that are to be completed. Each field appears as a light blue box. If you place your cursor over any of the blue boxes, a tool tip appears explaining the requirements for the field.
You must click on a field in order to type in it. Once you have completed a field, you should press the tab key to automatically move to the next field. If you press the enter key, you will not move to the next field.
There are several places where budget information is requested—at the bottom of page one and on pages six and seven. The form will perform the calculations for you. You must tab out of the field once you have entered a number for the calculation to execute. The totals will be recalculated if you change any of the budget numbers.
The form must be completed using at least a 10 point font. The default font on the form is a 10 point font, so you can only make it bigger if you wish.
The size of the blue box determines the length of the text that you can enter for each field. You will not be able to type beyond the allowed space. The same holds true for the space provided for the narrative questions on pages two to five. Your answers to the questions must fit in the space provided. If your narrative is longer than the space provided, the form will cut it off. Do not attach additional pages.
Tip: You may want to type your answers for the narrative questions using a word processor program, then cut and paste them into the PDF file. Again, use no smaller than a 10 point font and do not use additional pages.
Make sure to save your work and name it so you can find it. If you are going to submit your application electronically using the secure drop box on the Minnesota Historical Society website, please use a unique name for the file that includes the name of the applicant. For example: YourHistSocietyapp.pdf.
