The Sesquicentennial Commission seeks a proven, dynamic, and fast moving individual to become its Director.  The ideal candidate must be skillful in working with all kinds of people and eager to provide leadership in making the 150th anniversary celebration of Minnesotaís statehood absolutely outstanding.  While acting in concert with the Sesquicentennial Commission, its Chair, Vice Chair, Committee, and Sub-Committee leaders, the Director will provide professional management for the commissionís activities and meeting the expectations of the Legislature for the sesquicentennial celebration.  This is a full-time, project position through June 30, 2007.  Continuation through February 2009 dependent upon funding.     A loaned executive or volunteer also are being considered for this position.

The Director will engage in the planning, funding, coordination, and promotion of celebrations throughout Minnesota and beyond related to the observance of the sesquicentennial of Minnesota statehood. Following the approval of a Master Plan by the Executive Committee, the Director will execute the policies, procedures and direction approved by the Commission.  The Director will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Commission. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Managerial experience in a complex organization; outstanding written and oral communication skills; high tolerance for working with the public; experience with PR, advertising, and marketing; understanding of a public sector operation; experience in fund raising, lobbying, and working with a legislature; experience working with a board; experience administering complex budgets and grant programs; familiarity with Minnesota; and a strong interest in leading Minnesota in celebrating its past and moving into the future.

SALARY:       $ 5,103 monthly minimum
