SPONSORSHIP AND PARTNERSHIP MARKETING DIRECTOR
The Minnesota Historical Society’s Marketing Department seeks a Sponsorship and Partnership Marketing Director to manage and promote the Society’s brand to the public by developing sponsorships and partnerships for the Society, its products and programs that build attendance, awareness, revenue and membership. Qualified individuals will have demonstrated success in the acquisition of sponsorships and partnerships for entertainment or arts venues such as museums, parks, sports teams, zoos, aquariums, or similar organizations. This full-time regular position is located in St. Paul, MN at the Minnesota Historical Society’s Minnesota History Center.
DESCRIPTION: Major responsibilities include the following: 1) develops strategic sponsorship and partnership plans to promote the Society’s brand, its products and programs; 2) develops sponsorships and partnerships between the Society and regional businesses; 3) serves as lead sales person for sponsorship and partnership contacts; 4) negotiates sponsorship and partnership agreements; 5) develops, secures and coordinates benefit package for sponsors and partners; 6) monitors and assures contract fulfillment; 7) works with the Society’s Partnership Marketing Steering Committee so that plans are well coordinated; 8) conducts post-event analysis and recommends future relationships; 9) fosters support for sponsorships and partnerships among Society staff members and programs; 10) contributes to the overall positive work environment of the department; and 11) performs related work as apparent or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications include: 1) bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing, advertising, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration or related field; 2) at least three years experience working with sponsorships, development, marketing or special events doing advertising, sales promotion, public relations, sponsorship management or event marketing; 3) experience with marketing sponsorships including solicitation, proposal writing, and implementation; 4) strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; 5) negotiation and presentation skills; 6) ability to work successfully with diverse groups including Society staff, marketing agencies, corporate marketing departments, foundations, and non-profit organizations; 7) strong attention-to-detail; 8) project management experience; 9) ability to meet high work standards; 10) and ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. Desirable qualifications include: 1) previous sponsorship/partnership management experience with a non-profit and/or cultural organization; 2) proven track record creating audience development strategies to reach target audiences; 3) established contacts with prospective sponsors, advertisers and media agencies; 4) commitment to and experience in broadening traditional museum-going audience and reaching previously underserved audiences; 5) retail marketing experience; and 6) experience conducting sponsorship/partnership market research, strategic planning, public relations, sales analysis, impression reporting, marketing strategies and implementation.
SALARY: $ 3,935 monthly minimum
