PRESERVATION SPECIALIST, ARTS & CULTURAL HERITAGE FUND The Minnesota Historical Society (MHS) seeks applicants for a Preservation Specialist, Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund, to promote the growth in capacity of its many partners across the state who preserve Minnesota history represented by the built environment. Important outreach components include listening carefully to concerns, coaching potential applicants, nurturing networks, and advising. This is a full-time, project position (2,088 annual hours) located at the History Center in St. Paul, MN, working through June 30, 2012. Renewal dependent upon available funding and program need. Summary of Work: Responsibilities include: 1) provides outreach and technical assistance to organizations in evaluating, nominating, and preserving the built environment with respect toward accessing an Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund grant; 2) coordinates the monitoring of covenants and letters of agreement for grant-assisted projects, including those funded through the Historical and Cultural Grants Program funded by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund; 3) expedites handling of correspondence, requests for assistance, and phone calls; 4) represents the Society and/or department at events and programs of county and local historical organizations, and delivers remarks when appropriate; and 5) responds independently to questions from partners and members of the public with regard to Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the treatment of Historic Properties.
