Orientation for New Society Staff and Volunteers
- Learn about the Minnesota Historical Society, founded in 1849, nine years before Minnesota became a state.
- Hear from division and department heads about their award-winning programs and initiatives.
- See the equivalent of a football field of historical artifacts – including Victorian braided hair jewelry, stunning quilts and Indian beadwork.
- Find out how conservators repair damaged paper, textile and three-dimensional objects.

- Tuesday, August 5, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Tuesday, November 18, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Evening
- Tuesday, May 6, 6:30 to 9 p.m.
All orientations are held in the Fraternal Congress Classroom at the History Center.

Volunteer Bus Trip
On June 12th 2007 the Volunteer Services department sponsored a trip to the Harkin Store in New Ulm, MN. Volunteers enjoyed a special tour of Harkin Store, a picnic lunch next to Hermann the German and a driving tour of New Ulm compliments of former New Ulm resident and current History Center volunteer Robert Paulson.
