As the Spiritualist movement gained popularity in the mid-19th century, an increasing number of Victorians began attending séances. It was believed that séances, conducted by mediums, were the best way to connect with the spirit world. Some mediums were sincere, but others were frauds and developed elaborate ways of tricking their audiences.
Explore elements of a Victorian séance in this one-of-a-kind event with artist and performer Michael Callahan, who portrays a Victorian medium, and discover some of the tools and tricks used at a 19th-century séance.
The program starts at 8, 9, 10, and 11 pm and is suitable for ages 16 and up.
