Enter the Wiener Dog Costume Contest and dress your dachshund in a wacky baseball themed outfit!

The indoor competition begins at 1 p.m. at the Minnesota History Center. Check in begins at 11:30 a.m. You must be checked in by 12:30 p.m.

• Eligibility: anyone who owns a dachshund and likes to dress up his or her pet!
• How to Participate: Registration opens December 15. Pre-register by January 12, 2007. Registration on the day of the event may be possible but not guaranteed. There is no fee to enter. MHS will provide two free admission passes to each applicant at the check-in table on the day of the event. Regular museum admission applies to additional members of contestant’s party.
• Contest Guidelines:
  • Adults and children are encouraged to participate with their dachshund.
  • Pets must be registered in advance. One form per pet.
  • All pets must be leashed at all times and under the control of the accompanying guardian.
  • Dog handlers encouraged to dress in baseball themed attire. Creativity is admired!
  • Children 12 and under with a pet in the contest must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their own pet if needed.
  • You and your dog must be comfortable in a group and a highly social environment.
  • The Minnesota History Center will provide an outdoor exercise spot and water.
  • All owners must complete a Release and Waiver of Liability Agreement form.
• Judging: Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
  • Best Baseball Theme entry
  • Most Creative and Original entry
  • Best Group or Organization entry
  • Best Youth Entry (age 16 or under)
  • Best Dog-Guardian Look Alike
• Time & Staging:
  One member of your group must check in at the registration table located inside the main entrance to the History Center between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to sign in and pick up your entry number and museum admission passes.
  
  Volunteers will direct all participants to the staging area located on level 3 of the History Center. Participants must be lined up and ready to go no later than 12:55 p.m. The costume contest begins at 1:00 p.m. sharp.
  
  Guardians and pets will be required to walk a course marked by 1st, 2nd, 3rd and home base and then return to the staging area until all contestants have completed their course.
  • Be sure and stay for a full day of exciting activities and events that include:
  • Wiener Dog Costume Contest
  • Vendor Calling and Obstacle Course Contest
  • Baseball standards with Minnesota Twins’ organist, Sue Nelson
  • Special appearance by the Saints mascot, Mudonna
  • Saints Players and Coaches mini-clinic and autograph signing
  • History HiJjinx Art Activity creating wiener dog recipe books

All activities and contests are included with History Center admission
