- Many of these records may be restricted for 50-75 years from date of last entry; submit an Application and Use Agreement for Access to Restricted Records on Individuals form to use restricted records

the advent of individual case files, registers in volumes were used
to record information on individual inmates. The following three series
really constitute a single group of records:
- Convict Registers, 1854-1902, which were discontinued in Nov. 1902, and beginning with inmate number 900 information is found instead in the Convict Record
- Convict Record, [1902]-1915, which was replaced by the inmate register sheets in Sept. 1915
- Inmate Register Sheets, [1915]-1978, took the place of the convict record beginning with inmate number 5,033 in Sept. 1915
