Photographer Wing Young Huie asks the question, "How does my Chinese-ness collide with my Minnesota-ness and my American-ness? And who gets to define those hyphenated abstract nouns?" Join a discussion in which panelists have an opportunity to talk about the layered experiences around identity, race, and culture.

Part documentary, part meta-memoir, and part actual memoir, renowned photographer Wing Young Huie explores the cultural riddle of his identity as a Minnesotan of Chinese descent through a new photography exhibit at the Minnesota History Center and a new MNHS Press book, Chinese-ness: The Meanings of Identity and the Nature of Belonging.
