Daniel’s Story exhibit opening in April

Daniel's StoryOn April 23, you’re invited to the grand opening of “Remember the Children: Daniel’s Story.” The exhibition, headed to the History Center from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, vividly recounts the Holocaust lessons of racism and indifference from the perspective of a Jewish child in Nazi Germany. This family exhibit is recommended for children eight years old and above.

“Daniel’s Story” is sponsored by Target with educational funding provided by the Phillips Family Foundation. KARE 11 is the exclusive media sponsor.

“Daniel’s Story” is presented in conjunction with the Society’s ongoing “Minnesota’s Greatest Generation” project, which looks at the lives of people who grew up in the 1930s, served in World War II and participated in the post-war boom years, and describes how events at home and abroad affected their lives and those of all Minnesotans.

Attend one of two Minnesota’s Greatest Generation “Preserving Family History” workshops this month. Head to Detroit Lakes on March 28, or Spring Valley on March 30.

Society writer and editor Alicia Cordes comments, “I love the juxtaposition of these two photos from the Society’s collections. The images remind me of the tremendous efforts of athletes that have come before me, as well as the lasting effects of Title IX, such as the Girls’ State High School Basketball Tournament and the WNBA. It’s also hard to believe that the site of the old Met Center is now home to the Mall of America!” Browse more than 117,000 additional historic images.
