OVERVIEW OF THE COLLECTION Minnesota Historical Society Don Braman & Associates (Minneapolis, Minn.). Corporate records, 1941-1982 (bulk 1958-1977). Client files (1958-1982), professional subject files, publicity scrapbooks, photographs, press releases, and related materials documenting a Minneapolis public relations firm (1958-1977) and the public relations career of its founder, Don Braman. In 1977 the firm merged into Doremus and Company. 46.5 cu. ft. (43 boxes). See Detailed Description section for shelf location. SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION

The majority of the records are client files documenting the firm's work with a wide variety of businesses and nonprofit organizations, largely in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The subject files concern the firm's administrative matters, as well as Braman's involvement in public relations professional groups. The scrapbooks and photographs document clients and the firm's products. The earlier files document Braman's work as a publicist for the Marine Corps (1941-1944) and his work for other public relations firms.

ARRANGEMENT OF THE RECORDS

The filing system of the Braman Collection has been kept substantially in its original form. That is, original folders and their titles have been retained. The processor devised the basic organization scheme of the collection, and where necessary, reorganized the papers within the various component groups.

A minimum of weeding was done by the processor. Only the obvious duplicate and printed materials were removed. Considerable printed materials were retained, even though they seemed marginal. The decision on the final retention of this material will have to be decided by the cataloguer.
