		  COUNTY</head>
<p>The Law Advocates of Ramsey County was organized in 1962 and was a
local chapter of the Law Advocates of Minnesota. Its original name was Lawyers'
Wives of Ramsey County and, following the lead of the state organization, they
changed their name to Lawyers, Advocates and Wives of Ramsey County in 1981 and
to Law Advocates of Ramsey County in 1991. The program of the organization,
composed of wives of lawyers and judges, was similar to that of the Law
Advocates of Minnesota. They concentrated their efforts on youth programs in
St. Paul and Ramsey County, particularly aiding juveniles in trouble,
supporting youth programs at Lino Lakes and Totem Town facilities and at group
homes. The organization disbanded in 1999. </p>

<p>The collection consists largely of minutes of the board of directors,
minutes of the annual meetings, and newsletters. Early minutes are brief, with
sketchy information on community programs, fund raising projects, and social
activities. Later minutes are more detailed and contain some financial data,
membership information, annual meeting reports, scholarship awards, and similar
information. The collection also includes the organization's newsletter,
		  <emph render="italic">The Legal Pad</emph> (1965-1995), containing photographs
and articles on its activities, some correspondence, and constitutions and
