Minnesota correspondence relates to Fort Ridgely, the growth of Duluth, real estate, Macalester College (1889), Indian agents, local politics and government, and the Democrat and Farmers' Alliance.
Contains notes and transcripts of speeches and lectures delivered by Davis. The manuscripts are arranged chronologically. Some items consist only of outlines of speeches or lectures, while others are fairly complete drafts.
Included are biographical sketches of Horatio N. Davis; a manuscript on the 60th wedding anniversary of Horatio Davis; notes on legal cases; a copy of Governor Davis' Thanksgiving Day proclamation; and Horatio N. Davis' appointment as a Trustee of the Wisconsin State Hospital for the Insane; Cushman K. Davis' appointment as a delegate to the Inter-State Deep-Harbor Convention; two documents appointing Davis a Commissioner Plenipotentiary of the United States in the treaty negotiations with Spain; Davis' passport as Commissioner; statement of military service.
