            <head altrender="biography" id="a2">BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE</head>
            <p>Thaddeus Crane (T. C.) Field I (1836-?) was an early St. Paul resident and dry goods
                merchant, who came to St. Paul from Putnam County, New York in 1855. He married
                Julia Shelton Ingersoll, daughter of D. W. Ingersoll circa 1858. They adopted
                Caroline Southworth Field, daughter of Julia S. Ingersoll’s deceased sister in 1868.
                She married John I. H. Field (nephew of T. C. Field I) in 1890. </p>
            <p>T. C. Field II was the son of John I. H. Field and Caroline Southworth Field (nee
                Field). He married Florence Mary Shield, daughter of Litton Edward Shields
                (1852-1933) and Anna Bell Caughren. </p>
            <p>T. C. Field III, son of T. C. Field II and Florence Mary Shield, lived from
                1918-1971. </p>
