The Charlotte Van Cleve Good Citizens' Club was organized in February 1938 by Mrs.
George Burton, its members were senior high school girls who had won the Good
Citizenship Award sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The girls named
their club for Charlotte Ouisconsin Van Cleve, an early Minnesota pioneer woman and
historian. The club carried out many projects over the years, including providing camp
scholarships for needy children, making donations to school libraries, and assisting the
residents of nursing homes.
