The Minneapolis Community Union Project (M-CUP) was incorporated in 1966 to promote and improve the welfare of the people living in the poorer neighborhoods of Minneapolis, specifically the near south side. Its organizing activities promoted community activism to fight poverty, reduce crime, and increase access to welfare benefits. It coordinated nationally with the Students for a Democratic Society and was especially concerned with services for the Native American community in the Phillips Neighborhood. The organization dissolved in late 1968.
