 Typewritten transcripts of Jonathan Carver journals (1766-1767) in the collections of the British Museum. 4 folders.

Ribbon and carbon copies of various versions of four different manuscripts, with annotations and editings, typed by Agnes McBeath of the Minnesota Historical Society manuscript division in the summer of 1924. British Musuem manuscript numbers 8949 and 8950.

The manuscripts include: Survey Journal from Detroit to Michillimackinac in the Year 1766; Journals of the Travels of Jona [sic] Carver; an untitled 78-page manuscript which seems to be be related to Caver's expedition to the Mississippi River; A Dictionary of The Naudowessee Language; and transcribed speeches interchanged between Carver and Naudouwessee chiefs in council at the great cave near the Falls of St. Anthony where he was adopted a chief in their bands, May 1, 1767.

Original letter written by Carver at Montague [Massachusetts?] to one Col. John Hawks asking that Hawks send someone to Springfield [Massachusetts?] to take some money. Hawks may have been the John Hawks (1707-1784) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, who fought in the French wars.
