The papers documenting the Minnesota lands begin with a sale contract and a letter from Lucas K. Stannard, Taylors Falls Land Office, relating to land in Township 32, Range 27, Section 26, located in Vineland, Mille Lacs County, on what was a portion of the Mille Lacs Indian Reservation. After 1891, correspondence, pre-emption papers, and tax receipts document the family's ownership of land in Township 43, Range 27, Section 29 (Mille Lacs County), which became a matter of dispute between the Warren family and the United States Land Office that his wife and daughter carried on after George's death. The government contended that the Warren claim was illegal because the land was considered a part of the Northern Pacific Railroad land grant and thus railroad property (letter of March 8, 1892). The Warrens and their attorney claimed that the land, as part of the Mille Lacs Indian Reservation was Indian land granted to the tribe by the treaties of 1863 and 1865 and that the railroad did not have full title to it (letter of May 9, 1892). The case was eventually settled in favor of the Warren family. Letter writers of interest and those supporting the Warrens were Cushman K. Davis, Knute Nelson (who introduced legislation into Congress to clarify the issue of the Mille Lacs Band treaty rights), and Alvah Eastman, owner of the St. Cloud Journal-Press, who was a cousin of the Warren family. The last item in this section (May 23, 1929) describes the painting of George H. Warren's original shack in Township 43, Range 27, Section 29 that was given to the Minnesota Historical Society.

The Oregon papers relate to Annie C. and Annie M. Warren's land in Township 23, Range 11, Section 6 in Klamath County, Oregon. The dispute seems to have been related to Annie Warren's improper filing procedures and payment for the lands in question. Six letters (December 2, 1902-January 23, 1904) from the Warren's attorney, Charles Keith of Princeton, Minnesota, contain information on the case. Other papers include a published respondent's brief (October 1903) brought before the Minnesota Supreme Court detailing the case brought by Annie C. Warren against John H. Wood, Erwin J. Davis, and John Goss, Jr., with information on the agreement by the persons involved (1892) concerning the care and sale of the property. From subsequent correspondence it seems that the family lost the case and had to pay damages. Included are correspondence with officials of the United States Land Office, receipts for payments made by the Warrens, and an agreement (May 20, 1920) between Annie M. Warren, Minneapolis, and the Chinook Timber Company, Minneapolis, whereby sold to the company lands in Township 23, Range 11, in Willamette.

Also included are a patent (August 2, 1894) from the United States General Land Office to Annie C. Warren for land in Township 23, Range 11 and two land patents for the same parcel issued to Annie C. and Annie M. Warren.

A small card containing George Warren's log marks (undated); a manuscript sermon delivered on board a ship for Christian Ludwig of Copenhagen (July 14, 1797); an invitation to Annie Warren to join the Minnesota Territorial Pioneer Association (1922); a letter (1923) from the publishers of Who's Who Among Minnesota Women, requesting Annie's biography (never published) for the volume; typed extract from the 1870 Minnesota census population schedule, Saint Paul listing the George H. Warren family; and photocopies from Minnesota Biographies containing entries for Alvah Eastman, Charles Keit, and Lucas K. Stannard.

The volumes contain brief notations on food and materials purchased and ordered; dates of employment of workers; contracts with individuals to furnish horses and sleds; hauling of logs on the Rum River; addresses; bills and payments for goods and lands; cash memoranda; and similar information recorded by Warren and documenting his logging business. A few entries from August, 1891 through 1895 may have been kept by his wife.
