(a Minneapolis engineer) interests in synthetic gasoline production during World War
II.

Correspondence (1943) between Wheeler and United States Senator Joseph H. Ball and
Air Force General George E. Stratemeyer document Wheeler's knowledge of the
construction of synthetic gasoline plants in pre-war Germany, and two newspaper
clippings describe the destruction of these plants by the British Royal Air
Force.

Two letters and one newspaper clipping (1960) detail Wheeler's attempts to prevent
the razing of the Metropolitan Building, Minneapolis, which was the first skyscraper
west of Chicago. There is information on Leroy S. Buffington, the building's
architect, details on its construction, and efforts by the National Trust for
Historic Preservation to save the building, which was later demolished.
