Minnesota to Gideon Welles, Secretary of the Navy, concerning the successful blockade off the coast near Cape Hatteras, North Carolina (August 29 and August 30, 1861); from Captain Charles D. Sigsbee, U.S.S. St. Paul, to the secretary of war, describing the blockade and engagement near Santiago, Cuba (June 28, 1898); and from E. H. Von Heimburg, U.S.S. St. Paul with information on the bombardment of Kamaishki, on the island of Honshu, Japan (August 10, 1945).
