The Pan Motor Company was incorporated by Samuel C. Pandolfo in
January 1917, and began construction of its first factory building in St. Cloud
(Minn.) in June. In December 1919 Pandolfo was convicted of mail fraud. Factory
production ceased in 1921 or 1922, and the company was placed in receivership
in October 1922. After serving time in prison (1923-1926), Pandolfo returned to
St. Cloud and began a health food company.

The collection material includes information about automobiles
manufactured by the company, company finances, stock sales, and federal grand
jury indictments brought against Pandolfo and his associates (1918 and 1919) in
connection with the sale of company stock. Much of the material consists of
tracts and reprinted news articles and testimonials Pandolfo distributed in an
attempt to refute the allegations against him. Some of the material is in
Italian.

There is also a photocopy of a Pan Motor Company stock certificate
(1918) for research use. The original certificate is filed as Manuscript
