Microfilm copy of a personal name card index to Final Papers, vols. A, 5[B]-6[C], 1881-1906 and Petition and Record (final papers), vols. 1-8, 1906-1954.

The cards are arranged in a single alphabetical sequence by surname and given name. Volumes A and 6 [cited as vol. C on the index cards] of the Final Papers are indexed by volume and page number. Volume 5 [cited as vol. B on the index cards] of the Final Papers is indexed by volume and "entry number;" these handwritten numbers appear on the volume's page margins. Volumes 1-2 of the Petition and Record are indexed by volume and page number, volumes 3-4 (part) by volume and petition number, and volumes 4 (part)-8 by petition number. The cards also include the date of naturalization or the number and date of the certificate of naturalization, which serve as supplemental indexing aids.

The cards were not checked for completeness or correct alphabetical order prior to microfilming. Researchers who do not find a card for a particular individual in its proper place should search the index further and/or consult the naturalization records, many of which contain indexes.
