Personal name index (vol. 1), in two separate sections, to 1) Declarations of Intention (first papers), vols. A-D, 1868-1906, and vols, 1[I]-VI, 1906-1942; and 2) Final Papers (second papers), vols. A-H, 1871-1906, and Petition and Record (final papers), vols, 1[I]-VI, 1907-1942.

Within each section of the index names are grouped alphabetically according to the first letter of each applicant's surname; within each alphabetical grouping names are listed chronologically in the order in which the declarations, final papers, or petitions were recorded.

Each entry in the declarations section give the applicant's surname and given name(s), the date of declaration, the number of the declaration (beginning in 1906), and the volume and page containing the person's declaration. Each entry in the final papers and petition and record sections gives the applicant's surname and given names), the date of the final paper or petition, the date of admission to citizenship, the certificate of naturalization number (beginning in 1907), and the volume and page containing the person's final paper or petition and record. Some entries in this section also include the date, place of issue, volume, and page number of applicant's declaration of intention.
