Personal name index to Declaration of Intention (first papers), vols. A-F, 1866-1948; Final Papers (second papers), vols. A-E, 1872-1906; and Petition and Record (final papers), vols. 1-7, 1906-1944.

The index is divided into two sections: Declaration of Intention; and Final Papers and Petition and Record. The names in each section of the index are grouped alphabetically by the first letter of the applicants' surname. Within each alphabetical grouping names are listed generally in the order in which the applicants' naturalization papers were recorded in the naturalization volumes; they are in roughly chronological order.

Each entry in the index gives the applicant's surname and given name, the date (month, day, year) of the naturalization paper, the volume and page number containing the document, and, occasionally, remarks.
