 DETAILED DESCRIPTION Naturalization Records Index (Microfilm SAM 192-I) SAM 192-I 1 1895-1955.

Personal name card index to the Final Papers and the Petition and Records Volumes A-M, 1895-1955, and 74-page index (complied in 1933) to the Final Papers and Petition and Record, Volumes A-J, 1895-1930. The names in both indexes are arranged alphabetically by surname and given name. The cards index the Final Papers by volume and page number, and the Petition and Record by volume and page number or by petition number. All citations in the 74-page index are to volume and page number. The cards also include the date of naturalization and some give the date and number of the certificate of naturalization, all of which serve as supplemental indexing aids. Information on name changes, which appears on the back of some Petition and Record cards, appears on the microfilm immediately following the frame containing the name and citation.

The indexes were not checked for completeness or correct alphabetical order prior to microfilming. Researchers who do not find a name in its proper sequence should search the index further and/or consult the naturalization volumes, most of which contain indexes.
