Congratulations on his election, requests for jobs and appointments or comments thereon, requests to appear and/or speak at various events, constituent requests, requests for information from other states and agencies, legislative and policy issues. Some criminal case, pardon, and extradition matters. Problems with coal deliveries at state institutions (Sept.-Nov.). Incoming letters only.

 Report and Valuable Papers of the Commission of the State Park of the Dalles of the St. Croix, August 1895.

Typescript report of the park commissioners (George H. Hazzard, John Zelch, and Benjamin Clayton) on acquisition for land for the park; abstracts of title for actual or prospective park lands; related letters, notices, and legal documents; commission expenses; blueprint map of Taylors Falls showing location and right-of-way of St. Paul and Duluth Railroad. This park later became Interstate Park.

Contains two transcripts (partial duplicates) for State vs. Soular and Verrill, one for State vs. Soular, and one for State vs. Verrill. Stamped "Board of Pardons No. 9."

 Report of 1897 Gettysburg Commission, [undated].

Report to Governor Eberhart of the commission appointed under General Laws 1897 chapter 91 to participate in the dedication of the Minnesota monument at Gettysburg. Although addressed to Governor Eberhart, and thus written ca. 1909-1915, it covers exclusively the events of 1897. It was found among miscellany in Governor Clough's files.

 [Peter] J. Borgstrom - Petitions, 1897.

From St. Louis County citizens, believing that he did not commit or intend to commit an offense and asking that he be pardoned. Borgstrom, the former county register of deeds, had been tried and convicted for a crime that is not specified in these petitions. Stamped "Board of Pardons No. 133."

 John M. Moshik Trial Testimony, 1897.

Typed transcript of testimony in State of Minnesota vs. John Moshik, who was convicted of murder in Hennepin County District Court and sentenced to be hanged. Sent to the governor's office per General Statutes 1894, sections 7400-7401, which required that a copy of the trial testimony and statement of conviction and judgment be sent to the governor in cases resulting in the death sentence, which could not be carried out until the governor issued a warrant.

Typed transcript of testimony in charges by W. S. Bartholomew against Rocholl, focusing on the firing of a teacher for refusing to offer daily prayers in school, the hiring of unqualified teachers, and the treatment and discipline of students.

 Lewis Kellihan Trial Testimony, 1897.

Typed transcript of testimony and court proceedings in State of Minnesota vs. Kellihan, who was convicted of first-degree murder in Martin County District Court and sentenced to be hanged. Page 1 is missing.

Typed transcript of testimony and instructions to the jury in Minnesota vs. John F. Johnson, who was tried in Ramsey County District Court for first degree manslaughter for having induced a late-term abortion that resulted in the woman's death. The transcript does not record the verdict. Stamped "Board of Pardons No. 230." Accompanied by an unidentified index that does not appear to pertain to the case.
