For each county there may be abstracts for some or all of the following types of trust fund lands: school lands, indemnity school lands, swamp lands, agricultural college lands, internal improvement lands, university lands, public building lands, subdivision school lands, transferred school lands, and rural credit lands.
Arranged in two chronological sets: 1) 1940-circa 1978 (Microfilm SAM 74); 2) circa 1978-circa 1986 (Unfilmed). Within each, arranged by county, thereunder by type of trust fund, and thereunder by range, township, and section.

There are no abstracts for the following counties: Carver, Hennepin, Lyon, Nicollet, Ramsey, and Steele. Apparently there were no unpatented trust fund lands in these counties as of 1940.

There is also a set of special Volstead Lands records (lands acquired by the federal government under the 1908 Volstead Act and subsequently sold to the State).
There are no abstracts for the following counties: Anoka, Brown, Carver, Cottonwood, Dodge, Faribault, Freeborn, Grant, Jackson, Lac qui Parle, Le Sueur, Lincoln, Lyon, Mower, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Olmsted, Pipestone, Ramsey, Redwood, Rock, Steele, Stevens, Wabasha, Waseca, Washington, Watonwan, Wilkin, and Yellow Medicine. Apparently there were no unpatented trust fund lands in these counties as of 1978.
Included in the Southern Counties are Benton, Big Stone, Blue Earth, Chippewa, Chisago, Clay, Dakota, Douglas, Fillmore, Goodhue, Hennepin, Houston, Isanti, Kandiyohi, Lake of the Woods, McLeod, Mahnomen, Martin, Meeker, Morrison, Norman, Otter Tail, Pennington, Pope, Red Lake, Renville, Rice, Scott, Sherburne, Sibley, Stearns, Swift, Todd, Traverse, Winona, and Wright counties. The Volstead lands are listed in Aitkin, Beltrami, Clearwater, Koochiching, Lake of the Woods, Marshall, Polk, Red Lake, Roseau, and St. Louis counties.
