					<unittitle>Subject Files</unittitle>
				</did>
				<scopecontent>
					<p>These files cover many aspects of Kellogg's career as bishop coadjutor and
						bishop, including diocesan administration, finances, organizations,
						education, and social concerns. Also included are several personal and
						official correspondence files, many of the correspondents being church
						officials and other members of the clergy.</p>
					<p>Information on diocesan and bishopric administration and finances includes
						the final corporate merger of the dioceses of Duluth and Minnesota in 1955;
						various relief, mission, and building funds; clergy and laymen salaries and
						pensions; and miscellaneous trust funds bequeathed to the diocese. Specific
						files dealing with these topics include the annual reports of the Board of
						Trustees (1958-1963) and files on Builders for Christ (1954-1955, 1960), the
						Christian Giving Foundation (1958-1959, 1962-1964), the Church Pension Fund
						(1956-1959, 1963-1968), the Ministerial Fund Gift Campaign (1961-1968), and
						the diocesan finance department (1953-1968).</p>
					<p>Kellogg's memberships and activities in various diocesan and church
						organizations are well documented. Some of the specific files that deal with
						his memberships are the Anglican Congress (1958-1964), Bishop and Council
						(1954-1969), Brotherhood of St. Andrew (1958-1965), Lambeth Conference
						(1957-1958, 1965), Executive Council (1964-1969), Joint Structure Commission
						(1960-1968), House of Bishops (1955-1968), and Memorial Commission (1960,
						1964-1965). Files that cover Kellogg's involvement in organizations of which
						he was not a member include the Altar Guild (1960-1968), Daughters of the
						King (1959-1968), Girls Friendly Society (1956-1963), and Women's Auxiliary
						(1952-1960).</p>
					<p>Kellogg's interest and involvement in the educational aspects of the church
						are reflected in files on various colleges, seminaries, parish schools, and
						scholarships, including the Bishop's Laboratory (1954-1955), Carleton
						Conference (1955-1967), Christian Education Department (1954-1965), College
						of Preachers (1959-1966), Kenyon College Theological School (1957),
						Seabury-Western Seminary (1959-1969), Nashotah House (1959-1960), and
						Seminary Refresher Courses (1966-1968).</p>
					<p>Many aspects of the social concerns and problems of the bishopric and diocese
						are found here, also, such as alcoholism, the elderly, refugees, flood
						victims, racial tensions, delinquency, and mixed marriages. There are files
						on several organizations that addressed such concerns, including the Church
						Home of Minnesota (1953-1968), Episcopal Community Services (1960-1968),
						Gilfillan Center (1963-1968), Society for Cultural and Racial Unity
						(1963-1968), and Voluntary Service Program (1966).</p>
					<p>There are several files of official and semi-official correspondence,
						including that with David E. Bronson, diocesan chancellor (1955-1968),
						Philip McNairy, bishop coadjutor (1965-1968), and many neighboring bishops
						(1966). There is a series of pastoral letters from Kellogg to all the
						diocesan parishes (1955, 1961-1962), and a series of letters on the election
						of the bishop coadjutor of South Dakota (1966). Also included is
						correspondence dealing with Kellogg's installation into the bishopric
						(1956), and a series of personal letters (1937, 1952-1966).</p>
					<p>Other subjects of Kellogg's interest and involvement touched upon in the
						subject files are Armed Forces chaplains; diocesan missions; national and
						diocesan clerical conferences and conventions; laymen's work in the church,
						including a series of letters with Dr. Jeannette Piccard; clerical supply,
						demand, and dispositions; and the diocesan hospitals, including St. Barnabas
						and Sheltering Arms, Minneapolis, and St. Luke's, St. Paul.</p>
