<p><emph render="bold">Schuyler Flint</emph> was born at Brookline, Vermont, on June 16,
1814. He married Ann Benson Mosher on November 29, 1843, at Morristown, Vermont. Ann
was born November 10, 1818, at Sharon, Vermont. The couple had two children: Susan
Ann (b.ca.1844) and Francis S. (1846-1908). The Flints came to Minnesota in 1856 and
farmed in Langola Township, Benton County. </p>
			<p><emph render="bold">Francis Schuyler Flint</emph> was born on January 1, 1846 in
Stafford, Vermont. He served in the Second Minnesota Light Artillery Battery during
the Civil War, and was mustered into service on January 14, 1862. He was taken
prisoner by Confederate forces on February 6, 1863 after the Battle of Murfreesboro
(Battle of Stones River), and was held in Richmond (Libby) Prison. He re-enlisted on
March 22, 1864; was promoted to corporal on April 1,1865; and was mustered out
August 6, 1865. Francis married Jennie Russell at St. Cloud, Minnesota on April 18,
1867. Jennie was born April 3, 1846 at Glasgow, Scotland to Robert (b.1820) and
Agnes Leitch (b.1824) Russell. Francis and Jennie also farmed in Langola Township.
They had ten children, including Nelson Flint (b.1869). Francis died October 23,
1908 and Jennie died May 4, 1920, both at Rice, Minnesota, which is located
immediately adjacent to Langola Township. </p>
<p><emph render="bold">William Augustus Spaulding</emph> was born in Stetson, Maine on
March 7, 1842. He came with his parents to Monticello, Minnesota in 1856. He served
in the Second Minnesota Light Artillery Battery during the Civil War (1862-1865).
Spaulding graduated from the Ohio College of Dental Surgery in 1875, and in 1886 was
made dean of the dental faculty at the Minnesota Hospital College. He also practiced
dentistry in Germany and France. Spaulding died at his home in Farmington, Minnesota
				in October 1913. </p>
<p>It is unclear what connection, if any, existed between the Flints and Spaulding,
other than that Francis Flint and Will Spaulding served together during the Civil
				War. </p>
