		<head id="a3">SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION</head> 
		<p>The bulk of the files are transcripts of daily tapes that Berman made
		  forming a chronology of Humphrey's campaign between March 31 and November 7,
		  1968 (transcripts for August 1968 are not included; see related materials note
		  below). The files also include transcripts of interviews with campaign advisors
		  analyzing Humphrey's campaign, pre-convention assessments of the campaign by
		  state, and Berman's correspondence, memorabilia, and newspaper clippings,
		  primarily from 1965 to 1968.</p> 
		<p>Materials from the 1970s include correspondence and publicity
		  information relating to the publication of Berman's book <emph render="italic">Hubert: The Triumph and Tragedy of the Humphrey I Knew</emph>
		  (G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1979), book reviews, and photographs of Humphrey, some of
		  which appear in <emph render="italic">Hubert</emph>. There is some information
		  regarding Humphrey's potential candidacy for the 1972 presidential election,
		  and a few items regarding various organizations honoring Humphrey in the years
		  following his death in 1978.</p>
