President Lincoln to Visit with Minneapolis School Children Friday
Media invited to attend as iconic American President performs, shakes hands with kids.

LincolnWHAT: See the reaction of kids as they meet President Lincoln, as portrayed by nationally known actor Fritz Klein. Lincoln will visit with 3rd, 5th and 7th grade students at Lake Harriet Community School. One 7th grade student will read her essay responding to the Gettysburg Address.

Lincoln will host the Minnesota History Center’s “Minnesota and the Civil War Family Day” on Saturday, May 4, noon to 4 p.m. During the family day, the winner of the “Dear President Lincoln” student essay contest will be announced.

The media are invited to attend the school event where they can interact with Lincoln, students and teachers. Individual interviews with Lincoln can also be arranged in studio or inside the “Minnesota and the Civil War” exhibit.

ABOUT: “Minnesota and the Civil War” is on view at the Minnesota History Center through Sept. 8, 2013. Through more than 170 artifacts as well as firsthand accounts drawn from letters, diaries, memoirs and reminiscences, learn about the everyday lives and the often extraordinary witness of individual Minnesotans during the war.
