New Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants Funding Available

First Grants Deadlines Coming this July, August

The Minnesota Historical Society announced today a new Legacy Amendment appropriation for the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants program which will provide valuable opportunities for non-profit and educational institutions, government units and tribal organizations to preserve and share the state’s history and cultural heritage. See below for grants deadlines and how to apply.

The Society has received a legislative appropriation of $11.2 million for the 2014-2015 biennium for the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants program. The Society has also received an appropriation of $16.675 million for the biennium for innovative statewide educational initiatives, exciting new exhibits, statewide partnerships, archaeological surveys and more.

"Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants build greater capacity within the state to share important stories and preserve historic and cultural treasures that form a legacy for future generations," said David Grabitske, manager of outreach services for the Minnesota Historical Society. "We are grateful to the governor, the legislature and the people of Minnesota for supporting this meaningful work."

Small Grants up to $10,000

Mid-Size and Large grants, $10,001-$50,000, and $50,001 and up

About Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants
Since 2009, more than 1,000 Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants have been awarded in all 87 Minnesota counties. Grants are available for history and historic preservation projects in three tiers: Small Grants of $10,000 or less, Mid-Size Grants between $10,001 and $50,000, and Large Grants of more than $50,001.
