Speakeasy Saturdays and Double Discount Shopping for Members in December

The Minnesota Historical Society expresses appreciation for member support with a double discount in December and adult visitors to the Minnesota History Center will be treated to samples from some local breweries during Speakeasy Saturdays.

Event: Members Double Discount Holiday Shopping Weekend
Dates: Thursday, Dec. 5 - Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013
Time: Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday noon to 5 p.m.

Wrap up some holiday shopping with a special "thank you" discount for MNHS members. To express appreciation for the support of its members, the Minnesota Historical Society is doubling the member discount Dec. 5 through Dec. 8. Members will receive a 20% discount on regularly priced merchandise by showing their membership card at the Minnesota History Center, participating historic site gift stores and online. Shop for one-of-a-kind items such as MHS Press books, jewelry and gifts with regional flavor. Plus, members can receive the same discount on all café purchases at the History Center and Mill City Museum.
Participating historic sites include the Minnesota History Center, Mill City Museum, Alexander Ramsey House, James J. Hill House, Minnesota State Capitol, Oliver H. Kelley Farm, Split Rock Lighthouse, Charles A. Lindbergh Historic Site, North West Company Fur Post, Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Forest History Center. The brewing business is booming, with Minnesota more than doubling its breweries over the last few years and landing itself on the list of top ten craft beer-producing states. Some of those local brewers and distillers will be on hand for Speakeasy Saturdays, providing samples of their products and chatting about the popularity of hand-crafted beer, soda and liquor. Be sure to visit the Minnesota History Center's new exhibit, American Spirits: the Rise and Fall of Prohibition. $5 includes either 3 alcoholic and 2 non-alcoholic samples or 5 non-alcoholic samples.
