“We Are Hmong Minnesota,” March 7-Jan. 3, 2016, at the Minnesota History Center.

MNHS Programs
A series of programs will be offered in conjunction with the exhibit “We Are Hmong Minnesota,” March 7-Nov. 29, 2015.

  • We Are Hmong Minnesota Family Day
    Minnesota History Center, March 7, 2015, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    The exhibit will open with a family day filled with music, dance, fashion, games and hands-on activities. Admission is free.
  • Qhia Dab Neeg: Hmong Stories on Film
    Minnesota History Center, March 21, 2015, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
    Qhia Dab Neeg is Hmong for “storytelling.” View full-length and short documentary films selected from the first five years of the Qhia Dab Neeg Film Festival. Some of the Hmong filmmakers will be present. The program is free.
  • Paj Ntaub: Hmong Textiles from the Permanent Collection
    James J. Hill House, April 10-Jan. 3, 2016
    View a companion exhibit of 50 Hmong textiles including appliqué, embroidery and batik work in traditional art form (paj ntaub or flowery cloth) and commercial forms. The exhibit is free with a tour of the Hill House, or can be viewed alone for $2.
  • A Thousand Journeys, One Home: Asian-Pacific Heritage Day
    Minnesota History Center, April 25, 2015, noon to 4 p.m.
    A family day that celebrates friendship, diversity and unity. Enjoy music, dance, food demonstrations, cultural displays and art activities. This program is offered in partnership with the Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans. The program is free with museum admission.
  • Gallery programs
    Minnesota History Center, March 7-Nov. 29, 2015
    Throughout the exhibit’s run, Hmong speakers will be available during most open hours to answer questions and provide translations. In addition, on the third Saturday of every month, Hmong community volunteers will share music, cultural traditions, games and stories.

    Recognized by the U.S. Congress, the State of Minnesota, and the City of St. Paul to remember and honor Hmong-Lao veterans for their service in the Secret War in Laos.
