Introducing the Minnesota History Mobile App!

2015 marks the 100th anniversary of Minnesota History magazine, and what better way to celebrate than with something new? Whether you're new to the journal or a long-time reader, you can now enjoy the Minnesota History app—FREE to Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) members and print subscribers! Single copies and subscriptions are also available for purchase.

Minnesota History is a lively, richly illustrated journal about the history of the state and the Upper Midwest. Published quarterly by the Minnesota Historical Society Press, Minnesota History features engaging articles on fresh topics ranging from the stonecutters at the Minnesota State Capitol, to Hmong needle workers, to food co-ops of the 1970s. Whatever the topic, Minnesota History articles are original, soundly researched, and intriguingly written.

In addition to articles selected by expert referees, Minnesota History features regular departments that examine art and objects from MNHS collections, interpret historical photos, and reflect on landmarks of the built environment. Book reviews and book notes are also included in each issue.

The app includes every story, department, and photo from the print version, plus so much more:

  • Added photos
  • Video
  • Audio
  • Maps
  • Links to other publications of the Minnesota Historical Society Press
  • And many other interactive features

Minnesota History is published four times a year, in the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Members of the Minnesota Historical Society receive the journal as a member benefit. Single issues and subscriptions are also available for purchase from individuals and institutions.

Advance Praise:

"The new Minnesota History app is an invaluable asset. In addition to the well-researched articles we depend upon, its crisp, clean images expand to show detail, and its extra material, including video, adds a new dimension to the stories. Ease of navigation makes it readily accessible to a variety of readers, and the growing library of back issues will make the app a go-to resource on state and regional history." –Thomas Saylor, professor of history, Concordia University, St. Paul
