Following are records of genealogical interest received by the Minnesota State Archives during the past year.

Coroner Records

Coroner records might include inquest records and coroner's record books.

Court Records—Civil Cases

Civil case records might include court commissioner's record books, defendant's index to court records, judgment books, disability case files with register.

  • Red Lake County, 1897-1919 (index 1897-ca. 1975)
  • Saint Louis County (Hibbing), 1911-1978
  • Wabasha County, 1859-1959

Court Records—Criminal Cases

Criminal case records might include registers of actions, general indexes to cases, indictment record books, register of justice's certificates or criminal conviction, criminal action register of the county attorney.

  • Saint Louis County (Hibbing), 1911-1978

Court Records—Probate

Probate records might include probate registers, final decrees of distribution, and will record books.

Farm Records

Century Farm applications submitted in 2006. These applications provide biographical and genealogical information and ownership history of the farm. Some also include supporting documentation and/or reminiscences.

Land RecordsLand survey notebook

  • Carlton County land registration decree and docket books, 1910-1981
  • Cass Lake Land Office (U.S. General Land Office) index and list of lands, 1933
  • Polk County lists of land, 1883-5
  • 1859 map of the Sioux Reserve
  • Original Land survey notes for Indian reservations, the Fort Ripley Military Reservation, roads, and islands for 1853-1907

The land survey notes and plats are fundamental legal records for real estate in the state. All property titles and descriptions stem from them.

Marriage Records

  • Ramsey County, now complete for 1849-2000
  • Steele County, 1856-1866

Naturalization Records

These records are not on microfilm and are not listed in the indexes on Ancestry.com or the Iron Range Research Center's website.

School Records

Isanti County class photo, 1957-58 school year
  • Isanti County, Cambridge and Stanchfield townships, class photographs, 1957/58 - 1966/67
  • Saint Paul, Teacher Training Dept., yearbook for July 1955, which includes biographical information on about 11 graduates of the class of 1930, plus black-and-white photographs of teachers, families, and homes
  • Olmsted County, 6 defunct rural school districts (included in the following Winona County records)
  • Winona County, Saint Charles district and 21 rural school districts that are now defunct

State Hospital Records

  • Fergus Falls State Hospital admission and discharge registers, 1966-1998
  • Saint Peter State Hospital admission and transfer book, admissions index for 1911-1963, medical record books for 1912-1964, payroll registers for 1901-1921, blueprints and drawings from 1910-1963, and Psychiatric Nursing Program records for 1936-1981

Tax Records
