Brass Kings by Dan CorriganOpening June 7 Daniel Corrigan Music Photography: The Analog Years. Hear from Corrigan about this new exhibit and his years as a music photographer at 8:30 p.m., right after The Brass Kings at Mill City Live.

The exhibit runs through Sept. 30, and is presented by the Minnesota Center for Photography and Mill City Museum.

Mpls in 19 Minutes Flat
View the must-see movie of the summer Minneapolis in 19 Minutes Flat, winner of the 2007 MUSE Award by the American Association of Museums. Judges called the movie
"brilliant," "fun," "irreverent" and "tremendously entertaining."

The movie plays every 30 minutes at Mill City Museum. View a trailer for the film.

Go on a historic adventure at one of the Minnesota Historical Society day camps. Canoe the Snake River, learn to be a soldier, care for farm animals and make a scrapbook to take home. Open camps include:

  2. Alexander Ramsey House Summer Day Camp (for boys and girls), June 25-29.

  4. Young Nor'Westers Day Camp, Northwest Co. Fur Post, July 16-20.
  5. Taste of History Day Camp, Mill City Museum and other sites, Aug. 6-9.

A CLOSER LOOK AT EXHIBITS

PenguinsPolar Norway, on display at the Minnesota History Center through Aug. 26, highlights Norway’s exploration and research in the Arctic and Antarctic. Offered by the Minnesota Historical Society as part of Nordic Summer, a metro-wide celebration of the arts and cultures of Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland.

Open House
Find out for yourself why Open House just won a WOW Award from the American Association for State and Local History. The award recognizes a project that is "highly inspirational, exhibits exceptional scholarship, and is exceedingly entrepreneurial."

Open House uses a single, existing house—in the Railroad Island neighborhood on St. Paul’s East Side—as a window into the daily lives of people of the past. Visit the exhibit and learn how to do your own house history.

June 9: Join the Minnesota's Greatest Generation Project at the World War II Memorial dedication.

June 16: Turn on TPT Channel 17 at 8 p.m. to see the five award-winning films, including interviews with the filmmakers, from the 2006 Moving Pictures Film Project. Want to submit your own short film/video? Deadline for 2007 Moving Pictures is Sept. 17.

June 21: The Creative Keepsakes series returns to the History Center with 'Brides on the Home Front: Recipes and Advice for the Wartime Homemaker.'

June 24: Watch the world premiere of Minnesota's Greatest Girls at the History Center, a unique filmmaking collaboration between girl filmmakers and senior women of the Twin Cities. Minnesota's Greatest Girls were recently honored in Washington, D.C. as Save Our History National Honors Finalists, sponsored by the History Channel.
