HISTORY MATTERS DAY IS FEBRUARY 25

Join us on Monday, Feb. 25, as history fans from across the state gather for the fourth annual History Matters Day at the State Capitol, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a rally at noon.

Urge your legislators to support history programs, sites and educational efforts, including the Historic Fort Snelling revitalization project and the other legislative proposals during the 2008 session.

The Minnesota's Greatest Generation Share Your Story web site has logged a total of 150,023 readers, surpassing the project's three-year goal of 50,000 readers six months early!

Forty-two new stories have been added in the past month. Highlights include:

• "I'll Be Seeing You," submitted by Marty Haugen. Listen to a World War II "voice letter" recorded by the author's mother, in which she sings the popular 1940s tune, "I'll Be Seeing You."
• "409th Infantry Regiment Grunt's Recollections," by Allen Johnson, a story in eight parts.
