Volunteers sought to cover (even a few hours) on Saturday/s and/or Sunday/s, from now through Labor Day, as TRACES' regular staff will be showing a mobile exhibit at regional fairs, etc. Please contact or call 651-292-8700 to sign up.

Cokato Historical Society to Host Second Annual Antique Tractor Show

The Cokato Historical Society, as a part of the 57th Annual Cokato Corn Carnival festivities, will this year again host an Antique Tractor Show.  This year’s show will be Wednesday, August 9, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tractor collectors are invited to “show off” their vehicles on a blocked-off portion of Fourth Street West between Broadway & Millard Avenues.  For more information or to reserve a spot, please call the Cokato Museum at 320-286-2427 or e-mail.

Nicollet County Historical Society Program

Learn about birds, conservation, and the environment by meeting live Minnesota raptors! Join the Raptor Center of Minnesota Sunday July 23, 2006 at 2pm at the Treaty Site History Center, 1851 North Minnesota Avenue, St. Peter. Don’t miss your chance to get up close with a bald eagle! Many of TRC's education birds came through our clinic and rehabilitation facility. Suffering injuries too severe to allow them to be returned to the wild, they work to help their wild cousins by educating people about the serious issues facing birds today. The program is free to Nicollet County Historical Society members and children five and under.  For non-member adults the fee is $4.00, students 6 to 16 $2.00 and the family maximum is $10.00. The Nicollet County Historical Society’s Treaty Site History Center is located one mile north of St. Peter on U.S. Highway 169 across from St. Peter Ford. Field Note: LFO Sighted in Big Stone County

Sometimes Large Functional Objects (see latest Interpreter) are so large, they are stored outdoors, like this stone cutting machine in the collection of the Big Stone County Historical Society in Ortonville. Have you responded to the blog posting from last week on LFOs?

Large machine, more than three car lengths long, and about 10 feet high. It is rusty-red in color.
