Oral History workshop at Scott County Historical Society

Learn how to collect great stories and save them for future generations. Capturing funny, heart-warming or poignant memories of your loved ones will become one of the best gifts you could give to yourself and your family. Town Ball at Stearns History Museum

The Stearns History Museum’s Breakfast Club program for November 8, 2006 is a presentation by Armand Peterson, coauthor of the upcoming book Town Ball: The Glory Days of Minnesota Amateur Baseball, published by the University of Minnesota Press.

Richmond, Minnesota DVD available

The Stearns History Museum announces the release of a local DVD “Meet Richmond: A Historic Look At Small Town America.” This DVD of Richmond, Minnesota, is a rare look at a town frozen in time. The DVD can be ordered online. For more information call 320-253-8424.

Upcoming Conferences and Workshops

Minnesota Scenic Byway Workshop

The eighth annual Scenic Byways workshop will be October 10-11, 2006 at Douglas Lodge in Itasca State Park. The program includes presentations by Director of State Parks, Courtland Nelson, a Best Practices Forum and an update from America’s Byways Resource Center. Midwest Open-Air Museums Coordinating Council fall conference

The fall conference of the Midwest Open-Air Museums Coordinating Council is scheduled for November 9-11, 2006 in Grayling, MI, hosted by the Hartwick Pines State Park and Logging Museum.  The conference theme is Interpreting Our Natural Resources at Open Air Museums.

Exhibit planning workshop registration deadline

The Minnesota Historical Society's popular daylong workshop on exhibit planning is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at the Edina Historical Society.  The registration deadline is September 27, and you can register online. If you have questions, contact Tim Glines, 651-296-5460.
