St. Louis County Historical Society author Michael Cochran will talk about and sign copies of his book, "Invincible: History of the Duluth Boat Club," on Saturday December 20, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. in Hibbing and 3 p.m. in Virginia.

Author Scott Schell will be signing copies of his new book, "Garage Sounds: Bringing Down the House," at the Stillwater Art Guild Gallery, Friday December 19, 2008, 5-8 p.m.

Archivist of the United States Resigns

Historian Allen Weinstein, Archivist of the United States, submitted his resignation to the President, effective December 19, 2008. Weinstein, who has Parkinson's disease, cited health reasons for his decision.

Costume Collection Grant

Costume Society of America announces a February 1, 2009 deadline for its Small Museum grants ($1500) to support projects relating to costume collections in small museums.
