Rally for history!
On Monday February 25, history fans will gather for the 4th annual History Matters Day at the State Capitol in St. Paul. From 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. rub shoulders with costumed characters, see artifacts from the Minnesota Historical Society's collections, and visit an information fair. Among the MHS projects under consideration are the popular historic preservation grants and the revitalization of Historic Fort Snelling. "Foundation Grants for Preservation in Libraries, Archives and
Museums."
National Medal for Museum and Library Service
The National Medal for Museum and Library Service honors outstanding institutions that make significant and exceptional contributions to their communities. Add to Minnesota Reflections
The Minnesota Digital Library accepts applications for digitization projects until March 28, 2008. You may submit your applications anytime before then. Projects are to digitize original photos, negatives, artwork, letters, journals, documents and maps. Contact Marian Rengel, 320-308-5625.
Museum building survey
All museum professionals who have been or will be involved in a
building project (e.g., addition, renovation, new building) between
2000 and 2015 are encouraged to participate in this survey. This survey will take approximately
30 minutes to complete. You need to download the complete
list of questions before completing the survey. Once you begin the
survey, you cannot save your answers and return at a later date.

Upcoming Conferences and Workshops
Learn preservation skills
Heritage Conservation Network and Preservation North Dakota seek volunteers for a week-long hands-on building conservation workshop at the Hutmacher Farmstead in Killdeer, May 25-31, 2008.

House Museums Workshop
The Midwest Office of the National Trust for Historic Preservation sponsors "Beyond the Velvet Ropes - Successful House Museums for the 21st Century" March 10-11, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau, Wisconsin. The cost is $80. Please register as soon as possible, as participation is limited to 75 people.
