AVAILABLE: Sherburne History Center has two sturdy program trunks to give away. 18 ½ inches high by 18 ½ inches wide by 20 ½ inches deep. Pond House Event

MAP Awards

The recipients of Museum Assessment Program grants are posted online. There were none awarded in Minnesota this year. The program is free for organizations with less than $125,000, and modest fees apply for larger institutions. The next deadline is February 15, 2009.

Time capsule contents

Washington County Historic Courthouse recently revealed the contents of a time capsule from 1917, and what happens when artifacts are exposed to water during that time.

Digital Inclusion Fund at The Minneapolis Foundation is accepting applications. Deadline: September 5, 2008.

Mockingbird Foundation Grants

The Mockingbird Foundation, Inc. offers competitive grants to nonprofit organizations that work with children 18 years or younger to improve music education. Grants range in size from $50 to $5,000 and are made on a one-time basis. Deadline: August 1, 2008.

Museums for America

Institute for Museums and Library Services' deadline for Museums for America grants is November 1, 2008.

Grants and Loans Book

American Grants and Loans Book is now available from Canada Books. This publication contains more than 1800 financial programs, subsidies, scholarships, grants and loans offered by the US federal government.

Membership for Small Museums

Association of Midwest Museums (AMM) and the Small Museums Administrators Committee - Midwest Region host a workshop on membership programs for small museums on Friday September 12, 2008, at the Lincoln Home in Springfield, Illinois.

Free online astronomy class

Applications are still being accepted for the upcoming Astronomy From the Ground Up Workshop, taking place September 8 - October 3, 2008. This free online workshop provides materials and training for museum educators who want to bring more astronomy to their audiences. Apply on-line by August 1, 2008.
