Local Events

Event for men

"Gear and Beer," an afternoon of "guy stuff" for both men and women, will take place from 2 to 4 p.m., April 6, 2008, in the courtyard in Red Wing's Colvill Park. The event is a fundraiser for the Goodhue County Historical Society. Tickets are $15. For information, call 651-388-6024.

Working for a nonprofit

U.S. News & World Report on March 4, 2008, features an interview with Billy Shore, "The problem with nonprofits." Shore comments on the retention and burn out for nonprofit employees.

Bus-eum 2 available

TRACES Center for History and Culture announces the final tour of the BUS-eum 2 exhibit, "VANISHED: German-American Civilian Internment, 1941-48," through Minnesota, Iowa, and the Dakotas in Spring 2008. A limited number of reservations are still available. Contact Naomi Stensgaard, 651-292-8700.

Thematic exhibits build contexts for certain activities, such as travel, as seen in the Beltrami County Historical Society's "Paddle, Ride, Fly." Such exhibits are an opportunity to work with partners or establish affinity groups.
