Celebrate history and arts in Chanhassen

Join Chanhassen Historical Society for "A Chanhassen Celebration of History and the Arts" on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Old St. Hubert's Church, 306 West 78th Street, beginning at 4 p.m. Contact Jack Atkins.

Dedication in Elbow Lake

Grant County Historical Society hosts the dedication of its new Veterans Memorial Hall, Sunday June 1, 2008 at 2 p.m. The Elbow Lake American Legion Post #321 financed and oversaw the entire project and is in charge of the ceremony.

Lunch in Duluth

St. Louis County Historical Society presents Ivy Hanson speaking on "They Used to Call Us Game Wardens," Thursday, May 15, 2008 at noon in the Ruth Maney Room, first floor of the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center (the Depot), 506 West Michigan Street, Duluth, MN. International Council of Museums supports the celebration of International Museum Day on or around May 18 each year. This year's theme is "Museums: Agents of Social Change and Development."

E-postcard FAQs

Internal Revenue Service has posted FAQs for those that need to file a 990-N, commonly called the e-postcard. For those organizations that ended their fiscal year on December 31, 2007, the filing due date for the e-postcard is May 15, 2008. As of May 14, 2008, there are 36 historical organizations from Minnesota that have filed.

Field Note

A new exhibit for the Grand Portage National Monument will open with the 2008 summer season. The exhibit has many interactives, including oral histories from Ojibwe elders.
