Constitutional amendment
On November 4, 2008, Minnesotans will have the opportunity to vote for the "Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment."
- The amendment would increase the sales tax rate by three-eighths of one percent from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2034.
- The tax would in part provide money for arts and cultural heritage programs, including funding for Minnesota history.
- Final details of funding would be worked out by future legislatures, if the amendment passes.

The effectiveness of local historical organizations is increased when any number collaborate on larger projects. For Minnesota's 150th anniversary, Minnesota's Historic Northwest, an organization of historical organizations in the 11 northwestern counties, produced a traveling exhibit and book.
