News
Constitutional amendment
On November 4, 2008, Minnesotans will have the opportunity to vote for the "Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment."
- The amendment would increase the sales tax rate by three-eighths of one percent from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2034.
- The tax would in part provide money for arts and cultural heritage programs, including funding for Minnesota history.
- Final details of funding would be worked out by future legislatures, if the amendment passes.
- A recent Star Tribune Minnesota Poll suggests the amendment is viewed favorably by 59% of respondents.
Remember, failure to cast a vote will count as a vote against the amendment. For additional information on the amendment, contact David Kelliher, 651-259-3103.
