Constitutional Amendment
On November 4, 2008, Minnesotans will have the opportunity to vote for the "Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment."
- The amendment would increase the sales tax rate by three-eighths of one percent from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2034.
- The tax would in part provide money for arts and cultural heritage programs, including funding for Minnesota history.
- Final details of funding would be worked out by future legislatures, if the amendment passes.
- A recent Star Tribune Minnesota Poll suggests the amendment is viewed favorably by 59% of respondents.

Field Note
Effective house museum interpretation relies on placement of objects where the objects were used. Although warming pans were used to remove the chill from bedsheets and could be shown next to a bed, here the pans are shown where they would have been kept-- in the kitchen.
