Fall membership meeting
Washington County Historical Society’s fall dinner meeting will be held Thursday September 18, 2008. The featured speaker for the popular event will be Robert Goodman, lead author of the new Washington County History book.
Alaskan artist to speak
Pope County Museum's annual meeting on September 20, 2008 at 1 p.m. features Alaskan artist Ron Senungetuk. His work has been part of the Pope County Museum’s collection since 1966.
Outlaw history
The Maxwell brothers' story will be shared by John Hallwas, author of "Dime Novel Desperadoes," at a free special event - sponsored by the Washington County Historical Society - at 2 p.m. Saturday September 27, 2008, at the Bayport Public Library, 582 North 4th Street.

TRACES reorganizes

Bell stolen
The 150-year-old school bell from the Spencer Brook Premiere School No. 1 was stolen. The bell had most recently been rung to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the school and its upcoming restoration in 2009.

IMLS Conservation Support Grants
Institute of Museum and Library Services awards matching grants
to help museums identify conservation priorities and perform conservation
treatment. Grants of up to $150,000 are awarded on a matching basis. Additional funds of up to $10,000
are available for an education component. Deadline is October 1, 2008.
