Annual Meeting for Wabasha County Historical Society
Lomyra Wolfeil will speak at the Annual Membership Meeting on Sunday October 12, 2008, from 1-4 p.m. Mrs. Wohlfeil, a direct decendent of the founder of Reads Landing, will present original family letters and documents and tell family stories that have been handed down through generations.
New exhibit in Hibbing
St. Louis County Historical Society installed a new photographic exhibit at the Hibbing Courthouse by local photographer Tony Kuznik.

Grant Deadlines
Deadlines extended
Institute of Museum and Library Services is extending by two weeks all museum grant deadlines through the end of the calendar year for organizations in counties that have been declared disaster areas by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Community Connections

Field Note
Richfield Historical Society recently installed this sign after two years of planning and fundraising. One of the obstacles was complicated open hours. To solve that, RHS made a sandwich feature that when closed simply directs the public to the website, and can be opened as shown. RHS reports increased walk-in visitation.
